Monday Evening 6:30pm - 8:45pm

8 week Part time course

Introduction

"I applied because I wanted to be inspired, to think more creatively about my approaches to screenwriting and to improve my knowledge. The Writers' Gym ticked all the boxes for me. It surpassed my expectations! Ellis is a fantastic teacher." Christie Walker, Writers' Gym participant June 2008.

A short course in practical tools for creative screenwriting

Over eight weeks, a course that aims to stimulate ideas, seeking ways to unblock, gain writing habits, develop those ideas and find your voice.

Each class will consist of a mixture of exercises, games and explanations on different aspects of screenwriting. These exercises might seed new ideas but also aim at opening the participants minds to new ways of thinking.

Writers will be expected to keep a regular notebook for themselves and there might be exercises to do in the week for maximum benefit over the course.

In the last session, we will have the chance to develop a story idea of each participant.

Sessions will include

  • Introduction and Creative states of mind
  • Character and Character Development
  • Storytelling, Plotting, Structuring.
  • Themes, Premises and Beliefs
  • Observation and Memory
  • Emotions and Empathy
  • Taking risks
  • Structure an idea - Coping with Feedback

Fee- £320.00
