"SOLO" Written and directed by Marina Simoes, Cinematographer Shu-Hao Chu, Editor Carlos Armella has won a Commended Certificate Award in the category Student Production sponsored by JVC Professional and Technical Achievement Award for Sound and Lighting at the Learning on Screen Awards 2005, held in Bradford at the National Museum for Photography, Film and Television on Monday, 21st March. The certificate is signed by Clive Izard, Chairman of the Society for Screen-Based Learning and Murray Weston, Director, British Universities Film & Video Council.
Chrissy Bright was at the Dinner and Awards Ceremony representing LFS so was able to collect the Commended Certificate on the students behalf. The Technical Achievement Awards Certificate is being sent to her.
The Jury Chairman said some glowing things about the film as follows:
"Marina demonstrated great control of all the elements of film production. The narrative worked well and the camera work and sound track strengthened this.
SOLO, amongst the student productions, stands out amongst everything seen for the quality of the soundtrack and the care taken with the lighting. Hence the nominations for Sound and Lighting Technical Achievement Awards."
