Amin Bakhshian

Amin Bakhshian was born in Ahvaz, Iran on 20 February 1981. After working as assistant director for short films and TV drama in Iran, he decided to learn the art of filmmaking. He obtained his first degree in Film and Media and started to make his own short films. However, as this degree course was mostly theoretical, he felt he lacked the practical knowledge of filmmaking. As a result, he enrolled in the MA Filmmaking course at the London Film School, which helped him to learn about the technical craft of filmmaking.

His main interests are writing and directing; his favourite kind of films involve social realism, which influences him in his own film direction. He loves wide range of social realist films but cites Michael Haneke, the Dardenne Brothers, Abbas Kiarostami and Ken Loach as his central influences.
