About
Sedi is a Writer/Director of fiction films and documentaries. Born to Iranian parents, she came to Germany as a child refugee. She developed a curiosity and passion for directing when joining a local theatre group. Sedi graduated in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies at Bonn University. She moved to London in 2009, where she started making short films. Her early works are a series of non-conventional narrative shorts that explore the notion of diaspora and displacement. These films were exhibited among others at Sheffield Doc Fest and at the V&A. Alongside independent filmmaking, Sedi worked as a freelance editor for BBC World Service and for Vice News. In Spring 2015, Sedi was granted a bursary from Creative Skillset England and John Brabourne Award and joined the MA Filmmaking programme at LFS.
