About

His passion for film and storytelling drove Franco Volpi to drop out of journalism school and leave his native Buenos Aires in Argentina to move to Alicante, Spain, where he studied at Ciudad de la Luz Film School, under acclaimed Basque director Pablo Berger. After graduating in 2013 with a BA in Film Directing, he moved to the UK to complete an MA in Filmmaking at London Film School. There, Franco Volpi worked as a Writer, Director, Editor and in the Camera, Lighting and Sound Departments on numerous short film and documentary projects, digitally, on 16mm and 35mm film. August Sun, his graduation film, was shortlisted for the 2018 BAFTA Student Film Awards and was named a finalist at the 2018 Student Academy Awards. It had its World Premiere at the 2018 Palm Springs Int'l ShortFest and has so far been selected in 20+ international film festivals, including the Rhode Island Int'l Film Festival and the Sao Paulo Int'l Short Film Festival. He graduated with Distinction in May 2018.
