Music

The MA Filmmaking course provides students with a thorough grounding in the role and function of music in film, and in effective relationship building and communication with composers.

In addition to regular lectures in music for film, students are currently given the opportunity to collaborate with composition students from leading international conservatoires.

A score can make or break a film and students are encouraged to develop constructive working relationships with composers and learn how to brief appropriately. MA Filmmaking students are given specialist guidance in sourcing and scheduling composers and developing the score.

Collaborating organisations have included and are not exclusive to: European Academy of Fine Arts Film Scoring Department, Bulgarian National Symphony Orchestra, Royal College of Music, The Juilliard School, The London College of Contemporary Music.
