In the wake of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements Intimacy Coordination has emerged to the front of the professional film and TV scene.  Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime, BBC, Sky TV, Channel 4 have been quick to respond by leading the charge to safeguard their sets. 

This introductory course is aimed at directors, producers and production managers, and is suitable for anyone looking to manage a rehearsal space. No matter the size of your production budget, this workshop will provide you with best practices for scenes involving physical intimacy and allow you to open up a safe space for creative exploration.

You’ll learn about the role of the Intimacy Coordinator, what they do, how to find/engage them and how to create safe and supportive working environments for actors. You’ll also be introduced to IDI’s pillars of intimacy and how they can be applied from rehearsal right through to production.

The Course will have a mix of discussion and practical exercises and will also cover:

  • Performer rights
  • Sensitivity and consent on-set
  • Modesty garments and barriers
  • Nudity riders
  • Closed set protocols
  • Health & Safety considerations when scheduling and schooling intimacy scenes
  • When is it necessary to hire an Intimacy Coordinator and what are the standards you should check when interviewing them

Yarit Dor is an IDI certified Intimacy Coordinator, co-founder of IDI-UK and co-director of Moving Body Arts. She is the Education Manager and Lead Instructor for IDI-UK’s Intimacy Coordination Accreditation Programme training intimacy coordinators for the UK and EU industry. Her intimacy coordination credits for TV & Film include: Adult Material (Channel 4), Domina (Sky TV), The Nevers (HBO), White Lines (Netflix), Spanish Princess 2 (Starz) and currently working on shows produced by BBC Studios and Amazon.
