Capital Campaign for London Film School

In the year of its 60th anniversary, London Film School (LFS) is on the verge of a new chapter in its history. After 50 years in Covent Garden LFS has secured the opportunity to build a new school on London City Island (LCI).

The new London Film School will provide a dynamic creative environment with cutting edge technology, and space to grow, ensuring we remain one of the top film schools in the world. Our new environment will encourage fresh ways of engaging staff, students and industry, and promote new approaches to learning and training. We aim to bring best creative talent from around the globe on to the Island and into the school.

Flying the flag for Cinema, the LFS is committed to ensuring the UK’s position as an international filmmaking hub supporting the global talent base. Our new home will be a place for industry and the public to engage with emerging talent and explore global cinema culture. LFS will also be firmly placed in the local, reaching out to the local communities to encourage greater diversity and wider participation in film training and culture. We will use our new location to be more closely connected to the industry and talent within London and the UK.

Since last year we have also been actively expanding our schools and young people’s outreach work, bringing filmmaking training to new and diverse audiences across the UK. Placing the new school on LCI provides LFS with a unique opportunity to further develop community outreach programmes including new connections with local residents, as well as the broader Tower Hamlets community. A new LFS cinema will be built by funds generously provided by LCI developers, Ballymore which will become the focal point for a range of community activities. Outreach programmes will also target schools and young people in the area, offering opportunities to participate in filmmaking practices.

The School welcomes and needs the generous support of a wide range of individuals, trusts and foundations, companies and partners. Your support will help us realise our capital ambitions and ensure our graduates are industry-ready and being trained in new, state-of-the-art facilities.
