Budgeting & Scheduling for the Art Department
Date: Tuesday 16th June 2020
Format: Workshop + Q & A
Cost: £30 (All fees go directly to supporting our network of amazing tutors).
The Art Department is the creative hub of any production but more often than not, the logistical factors of budget and schedule play a big part in how the production designer tackles the challenge of bringing the script to the screen.
Breaking down the script and analysing all the art department requirements is the first step to making an informed estimate of what will be required from the team and other contractors. This analysis and cost projection is essential for the producer and line producer to understand the designer's concerns if there is a shortfall in funds, resources and prep time.
This session, with art director Fleur Whitlock (The End of the F***ing World), will cover the process of analysing the script, creating a script breakdown, extracting specific information, working with a shooting schedule, making informed estimates of costs and running the budget during production.
