The 10-day Berlin China Exective Programme in partnership with London Film School, is a highly practical course for film professionals in China. In the first six days, students will comprehensively participate in the 69th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). During the 6-day Berlinale field-trip, students will be able to attend screenings of major sections both in competition and out of competition, attend Berlinale Talents events and have a guided tour at European Film Market (EFM). On the last day, students will have a guided tour to Filmmuseum Potsdam and attend the closing ceremony of the Programme.
 
The middle part of the Programme is comprised of a range of masterclass sessions and case studies to be delivered over three days. The course will include specialist British and International experts at each workshop who are highly respected professionals in their respective expertise, and where relevant the Programme Director Dr. Angus will source international contacts in sales, finance and distribution to add value to the delivery.

  • The future of film distribution and digital developments
  • The case study of The King’s Speech

This new spring programme explores the entire film business, embracing world and national cinema, non-Hollywood film production, financing, sales, distribution and marketing, alongside coproduction and digital strategies for the future. 

This programme provides students with the key business tools and contacts needed to build a career in the international film industry.The objective is that each cohort member will have a solid understanding of the international film industry’s structure and practices before examining strategies in more details and have memorable film experiences in Berlin.

HOW TO APPLY:

If you would like to apply for the Berlin China Executive Programme, please email zixi.zhang@lfs.org.uk. You will then receive an application form and you will be asked to fill in and submit it.

HOW THE APPLICATION PROCESS WORKS:

Those who complete and submit an application form by the application deadline will receive priority for a place. In the event that more than 15 suitable applications are received, the equivalent number of offers will be made.

In certain cases, course coordinator may request a Wechat/telephone conversation with an applicant before offering a place. This will be arranged via email in advance.

Those wishing to accept their offers must secure their places by submitting full tuition fee. Once 15 participants have been confirmed, a waiting list will be in operation for all subsequent applicants.

Dr. Angus Finney is a leading international film and creative industry specialist. His work includes risk management for Octopus Media, part of Octopus Investments – a £1.5bn City of London fund manager. He delivers MBA-level teaching at The Judge Business School, Cambridge University and Cass Business School, City University, London. He is the producer of Europe’s only Production Finance Market, hosted by Film London. Finney was managing director of Renaissance Films from 1999-2005 where he oversaw financing and sales. Finney has trained more than 800 film producers, company execs and students since 2005, and delivered masterclasses and lectures at Judge, Cass, Grenoble and Copenhagen Business School.
