Last week Gonzalo Maza, recent graduate of the MA Screenwriting course, was nominated for a Golden Globe. Now Maza has two more exciting accolades to add to his growing list. The Gloria screenwriter's film Una Mujer Fantástica (A Fantastic Woman) has been included in the Oscar's 2018 Foreign Language shortlist and has been nominated for the Goya Awards' Best Spanish Language Foreign Film.
The film has been chosen by the Academy as one of nine to move forward out of a record breaking ninety-two foreign language film submissions. Una Mujer Fantástica, which won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at 2017's Berlinale, shares the shortlist with the likes of Ruben Östlund’s Palme d'Or winner, The Square and Ildikó Enyedi's Golden Bear winner, On Body and Soul.
The 32nd Goya Awards has also nominated the film for one of it's highest honours for Best Spanish Language Foreign Film.
Best of luck to Maza and all involved in Una Mujer Fantástica!
