What is intimate action, the intimacy coordinator role as part of the crew, how to prep for intimate action, what are nudity & simulated sex riders and some safety considerations that invite more creative exploration. In the wake of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements Intimacy Coordination has emerged to the front of the professional film and TV scene.  Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime, BBC, Sky TV, Channel 4 have been quick to respond by leading the charge to safeguard their sets.

This introductory course is aimed at directors, producers and production managers, and is suitable for anyone looking to manage a rehearsal space. No matter the size of your production budget, this workshop will provide you with best practices for scenes involving physical intimacy and allow you to open up a safe space for creative exploration.

You’ll learn about the role of the Intimacy Coordinator, what they do, how to find/engage them and how to create safe and supportive working environments for actors. You’ll also be introduced to IDI’s pillars of intimacy and how they can be applied from rehearsal through to production.

The Course will have a mix of discussion and practical exercises.

Content Notice: participants will not be practicing intimacy or staging intimacy. However, scripts will have intimate language and videos or photos shown during the session will depict actors in states of nudity and/or performing simulated sexual action.
