Workshops with The London Film School
Sat 18 Oct, 11:00-18:00, London Film School
Three LFS tutors offer exclusive mini versions of their highly regarded short courses: Josh Appignanesi explores Visual Storytelling: An Introduction for Directors, Writers and Producers; Mia Bays leads on Selling, Marketing & Distributing Film: The Process Demystified; and Kate Leys presents Story is Character: The Art of Film Storytelling. Click here to book tickets.
  1. 11:00-13:00 VISUAL STORYTELLING: AN INTRODUCTION FOR DIRECTORS, WRITERS & PRODUCERS
How do you tell a story visually? What makes a film a film, and not TV? We could say a "real" movie is one that's mostly comprehensible with the sound turned off. But where do we start? In this mini workshop version of his 2-day London Film School workshop, director Josh Appignanesi takes participants shot by shot into the heart of cinema.

  2. 13:30-15:30 MARKETING & DISTRIBUTING FILM: THE PROCESS, DEMYSTIFIED
Have you been involved in making a film and found that part easy, but been completely mystified by the distribution and marketing process? Or are you looking for a career in film distribution and marketing? Oscar-winning producer, marketeer and LFS tutor Mia Bays touches upon the current sales, marketing and distribution landscape.

  3. 16:00-18:00 STORY IS CHARACTER: THE ART OF FILM STORYTELLING (Apologies, Kate has been taken ill so this workshop will be led by Screenwriter and Series Story Producer Neil Arksey).
Introducing the art and craft of storytelling for film by focusing on the heart of your story: character. Whoever is at the centre of your story drives it, and there is no drama without character. A film story is built around its characters. So, who are you looking at? What are they doing here, in your story?
