London Film School
London Film School is the UK’s oldest film school. We train the world’s next great filmmakers and storytellers in a collaborative and intensive film environment. We create global networks for life. We do this because we believe film is the most complete, democratic, and influential art form, as well as a vital and growing industry.

LFS delivers five MA degree courses and a raft of short courses for over 300 full-time students from over 50 countries. We hold World-Leading Specialist Provider status from the Office for Students and are consistently recognised by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the world’s top film schools.

Our History

Our DNA

Conservatoire model

Students learn by doing, making over ten films during the MA Filmmaking programme in an industry-immersive structure of collaboration and production deadlines. Teaching takes place in small cohorts, with direct, hands-on guidance from industry professionals.

Artistic freedom

Students are given the freedom to find their own voice and style and tell the stories they want to tell. They are encouraged to experiment, take risks, challenge conventions, push the boundaries of form and narrative, and explore new modes of storytelling.

International community

Students arrive from all corners of the globe, bringing with them a rich mix of identities, perspectives, voices, and traditions. This creates a diverse cultural learning environment where ideas are exchanged and boundaries are challenged.

Industry connection

We provide emerging filmmakers with the industry connections they need to launch their careers and thrive in the film industry. The film industries of almost every country in the world are liberally sprinkled with graduates of the School.
