Celebrating creativity, community and film
London Film School at Bloomsbury Festival 2026

By Charlotte Bill

This year, London Film School was delighted to take part in the Bloomsbury Festival 2026, opening our doors to local residents, film enthusiasts and creative minds from across London for a day of filmmaking workshops and archive film screenings. The event provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with our local community, share our passion for cinema, and welcome new audiences into the School.

Participants ranged in age from 16 to 73 and came from a wide variety of backgrounds, united by a shared curiosity about filmmaking and a deep affection for Bloomsbury itself. Throughout the day, attendees spoke about their love of learning, the area’s historic squares and gardens, and Bloomsbury’s unique identity as a centre for both creativity and education.

Hands-on filmmaking experiences

As part of the festival programme, visitors took part in practical filmmaking workshops led by members of the School’s community. Many attendees highlighted the joy of the creative process itself, from developing ideas and working as a team to experimenting with filmmaking techniques for the first time.

Discovering London through film

Alongside the workshops, visitors attended a specially curated archive film screening that proved to be one of the highlights of the day. The films offered a fascinating glimpse into London’s past, prompting lively discussion and reflection.

Looking ahead

The success of Bloomsbury Festival 2026 demonstrates the power of film to bring people together. Whether attendees were considering a future career in the screen industries, exploring filmmaking as part of their creative practice, or simply pursuing a lifelong love of learning, we were delighted to create a welcoming environment in which stories, ideas and experiences could be shared.

For London Film School, the festival was more than an opportunity to showcase filmmaking. It was a chance to celebrate the creative spirit of Bloomsbury, strengthen relationships within our local community and inspire the next generation of storytellers.

We look forward to welcoming many of this year’s participants back to the School in the future.
