London Film School was proud to have a strong presence at this year’s Tbilisi International Student Film Festival, contributing both to the festival’s industry programme and its celebrated competition strand.
Representing the School on the international stage, Chris Auty, Director of London Film School, served as a member of the festival jury, helping to recognise and celebrate the work of emerging filmmakers from around the world.

Alongside his jury duties, Chris also delivered a masterclass for students and festival participants entitled From Bertolucci and Cronenberg, to Pawlikowski and Winterbottom… Some Possible Lessons for Young Filmmakers from a Life in the Movie Business. Drawing on decades of experience spanning film criticism, festival leadership, production and film education, the session explored the creative journeys of some of cinema’s most influential filmmakers and reflected on the lessons that aspiring directors, writers and producers can take into their own careers.
The festival also provided a platform to showcase the talent emerging from the School’s own filmmaking community. Jade Guest, a recent graduate of the MA Filmmaking programme, saw her graduate film, Cool About It, selected for its world premiere at the festival. The film’s inclusion in the programme was a significant achievement in itself, placing Jade’s work alongside some of the most exciting emerging voices in international cinema.
Adding to the celebration, Cool About It went on to receive the award for Best Directing, a testament to Jade’s creative vision and filmmaking talent. The award recognises the strength of her work and highlights the calibre of filmmakers graduating from London Film School.

The twin successes of Chris Auty’s participation in the festival programme and Jade Guest’s award-winning premiere reflect the breadth of London Film School’s engagement with the international film community. From supporting emerging talent in the classroom to celebrating achievement on the festival circuit, the School continues to foster filmmakers who are making their mark on the global stage.
Everyone at London Film School extends their congratulations to Jade on this well-deserved recognition and thanks the organisers of the Tbilisi International Student Film Festival for hosting such a vibrant and inspiring celebration of student filmmaking.
