By Holly Blake

Students from London Film School’s MA Filmmaking programme have been featured in a recent Channel 4 News report exploring the growing popularity and cultural significance of horror cinema. The feature, titled 2026: The new golden age of horror films?, examines how the genre continues to evolve and resonate with contemporary audiences, particularly younger generations.

Filmed during the production of Bison, a Term 4 student film, the segment offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the collaborative filmmaking process at LFS. Students were interviewed about their work on the production and shared their perspectives on the enduring appeal of horror storytelling.

The report explores how horror films have become an increasingly powerful medium for addressing social anxieties, personal fears and contemporary issues. LFS students discussed the unique ability of the genre to connect with audiences through emotionally engaging and thought-provoking stories, helping explain why horror continues to thrive with younger viewers.

The inclusion highlights the practical, hands-on nature of film education at London Film School, where students learn by making films throughout their studies and gain experience across all aspects of production. From script development and directing through to cinematography, sound and post-production, students work collaboratively to create ambitious projects while developing their own creative voice.
