Arrtu Salmi

Head of Editing

A lifelong cinephile, Arttu left engineering studies to pursue filmmaking, studying editing and post-production at Tampere University of Applied Sciences while working as a projectionist, followed by time at FAMU in Prague and a Master’s in film editing from the National Film & Television School in the UK. Based in London for over a decade, he crafts distinctive stories across commercials, animation, music videos, and arthouse and experimental films, seeking projects that challenge and expand his practice. His recent work includes Dreamers (dir. Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor), premiered at Berlinale 2025; Sebastian (dir. Mikko Mäkelä), premiered at Sundance 2024; Tuesday (dir. Daina O. Pusic) starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, premiered at Telluride 2023; and The End We Start From (dir. Mahalia Belo) starring Jodie Comer, which premiered at Toronto 2023 and earned him a Best Editing nomination at the British Independent Film Awards. His work spans fiction and documentary and has screened at major festivals worldwide, with broadcasts including the BBC, Sky Arts, Al Jazeera, and YLE Finland.
