Charis is a UK-based Educator and Sound Designer with over 30 years’ experience working with internationally recognised award-winning filmmakers, artists, animators, and photographers. Alongside her creative practice, she has made significant contributions to higher education, holding roles including Programme Director, Senior Lecturer, Visiting Lecturer, and External Examiner across Film Production, Television, and Journalism courses at institutions such as the University for the Creative Arts, Southampton Solent University, the University of Westminster, the University of Portsmouth, and Regent’s University.
As a Sound Designer, Charis has collaborated with leading artists including Daria Martin and Turner Prize winner Charlotte Prodger, and her work has been exhibited and screened internationally at venues and festivals such as Tate Modern, Locarno, Cannes, Edinburgh, and the London Short Film Festival. She serves on film festival juries and advisory boards, including the International Moving Image Society, and is a member of the Audio Engineering Society Accessibility Sub-Committee. Her practice spans fiction, documentary, and artists’ moving image, with a focus on spatial representation and movement in sound.
