Nicola is an experienced documentary producer/director who worked at the BBC across primetime arts, specialist factual, and documentary programming, as well as a successful development producer, with her work earning nominations for a Grierson Documentary Award and a Royal Television Award, and My Life As A Child winning at five International Input Documentary Festivals. Guided by her belief that documentary is “life shared on film,” she later worked in the independent sector with companies including Ridley Scott Associates and The Garden. Alongside her industry career, she is a qualified and experienced higher education lecturer and Fellow of the Higher Education Authority, having taught for many years as a visiting lecturer at City University, Goldsmiths, and Birkbeck before joining the London Film School.
