Sophia began her career as a camera assistant, gaining credits on iconic British projects including GoldenEye and the final Dennis Potter TV series: Karaoke & Cold Lazarus. Following a few years in film editing working with directors Jim O’Brien and Malcolm Mowbray, a move into development saw Sophia join Tony Garnett’s World Productions to develop a slate of films in conjunction with Sony Columbia. On leaving World, Sophia continued as a freelance script consultant developing projects such as Polis Evo 2 a high-octane action thriller and sequel to Malaysia’s highest grossing movie of all time and a feature with the actor and producer Selma Hayek-Pinault. As an educator Sophia has designed and run numerous courses and script workshops around the world including for MediaCorp Singapore, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, EICTV Havana Cuba and Cinemalaya in Manila.
