English Language Requirements

If your first language is not English, we may ask you to provide evidence of your English Language abilities when you apply to study with us.

We accept a variety of approved English Language tests that can be used to assess your competency in English.

Exemptions

You are not required to submit proof of English language if you:

- Have recently completed an undergraduate degree in the UK;
- Have recently completed an undergraduate degree in another majority-English speaking country.

Please note, if you have completed your undergraduate degree in English, but not in a native-English speaking country, you would still be required to provide proof of English Language.

 

Accepted English Language Tests

We accept the following English Language tests as proof of English Language. All EU, EEA and International applicants who are required to provide proof must adhere to one of the following tests.

Please note, that all English language tests are only valid for two years, and you must have taken the test within two years of applying to London Film School. All scores mentioned below are our minimum entry requirements and achieving above these would be advantageous to your application.

Minimum Level B2 test scores are as follows:

 

IELTS Academic

Overall score of 6.5 with no element below 6.0:

Listening: 6.0

Reading: 6.0

Speaking: 6.0

Writing: 6.0

IELTS test centres are now open in 39 countries and territories, where it is permitted and deemed safe, with additional precautions in place to help protect the health of test-takers and staff.

 

TOEFL Internet Based

Overall score of 92 or above, with minimum element scores:

Listening: 21

Reading: 22

Speaking: 23

Writing: 21

 

Pearson’s Test of Academic English

Overall score of 69 with no element below 59:

Listening: 59

Reading: 59

Speaking: 59

Writing: 59

 

Cambridge B2 First

Overall score of 176 with no element below 169:

Listening: 169

Speaking: 169

Reading: 169

Writing: 169

 

IELTS Indicator

Overall score of 6.5 with no element below 6.0:

Listening: 6.0

Reading: 6.0

Speaking: 6.0

Writing: 6.0
