Mindful of growing concerns within the London Film School’s community, we are taking a number of measures in response to the developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. The key priority of these measures remains the health, safety and wellbeing of our students and staff, and reducing the need for our students or staff to be on the LFS premises.
We are enormously proud of the Silver Bear Jury Prize win for Rafael Mendoza’s (MAF 192) graduation film Filipiñana at the 70th Berlinale. Read all about the film and the award-winning team behind it here. The film has also been selected to screen at this year's
London Film School was delighted this weekend to hear that LFS student, Rafael Manuel, had won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale Film Festival for the Short Film Jury Prize with his LFS graduation film, Filipiñana!
Director of LFS, Gisli Snaer, said: “We are all tremendously proud of Rafael and the entire Filipiñana crew for producing such a stunning, unique film. Each and every one of them richly deserved to be nominated and win this prestigious award.”

“PAUL’S LUCKY DAY” by Jamie Palmer won FIRST PRIZE at MAR DEL PLATA INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL, Buenos Aires, Argentina 11-20th March 2004.
“BLUES IS MY MIDDLE NAME” by Winta Yohannes won BEST FILM/VIDEO BY A BLACK FILMMAKER at the BLACK INTERNATIONAL CINEMA FILM FESTIVAL, Berlin, Germany 6-9 & 14-16 May 2004.
“THICKER THAN WATER” by Daneeta Loretta Saft won SILVER PELICAN AWARD, at PELICON D’OR SHORT FILM FESTIVAL, Chalmette, Louisianna, USA 23-24 April, 2004.
"BLUE'S IS MY MIDDLE NAME" 132/4/A, Writer/Director Winta Yohannes has won Best Film/Video by a black filmmaker at the Fountainhead, Black International Cinema Film Festival in Berlin 6/9 and 14/16 May 2004. She received a certificate and the School a paperweight.
"THICKER THAN WATER" 142/5/C Writer/Director Daneeta Loretta Saft has won the Silver Pelican Award at the Pelican D'Or Short Film Festival, Chalmette, Louisianna, USA 23/24th April 2004.
"PAUL'S LUCKY DAY" 141/4/C, Writer/Director Jamie Palmer, has won 1st Prize at Mar Del Plata International Film Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina 11-20th March 2004. This is the most prestigious festival in the whole of South America and the director is an ex-student Miguel Pereira. Jamie got a certificate, a Kodak Award which is 5 reels of 35mm negative and they will help with his first feature but post-production would have to be in Argentina! Special Mention by the Argentina Cinematography Journalists Association and the Cinecolor Laboratories for the Postproduction Award.
