Applicants should present at least one of the following:
One of:
- An Undergraduate / Bachelor’s Degree with Honours; or
- An equivalent (International) or Higher Qualification; or
- An equivalent professional qualification
As well as:
- A short treatment/synopsis for a feature film or television drama series that you would like to produce. Why do you want to make this project – subject, genre, characters, themes – and who do you envisage as its audience(s). 400 words.
- Short resume / CV and brief explanation of why you think you will make a good producer. Max. 200 words
- One of the following:
- Name a recent feature film or TV drama series that you would love to have produced and – from a professional producing (rather than consumer) perspective – tell us why. 250 words.
- OR, Name a film or TV drama producer/showrunner whose work you respect from a professional perspective, and why. 250 words.
- OR, Recommend an online resource – e.g. video masterclass, podcast, production software, social media platform and explain how and why you believe it to be of exceptional use for your future producing career. 250 words.
Students should expect to discuss these materials at interview and we propose to interview all those who have submitted the application pack.
Selection criteria
We are seeking candidates to demonstrate some or many of the following attributes:
- A high degree of commitment to studying at London Film School
- A high degree of commitment to a professional industry career in producing feature films or high-end television drama
- Professional or non-professional experience in film, theatre, television, music video, digital content and other creative production endeavours
- An interest in the business as well as the creative elements of filmmaking
- Relevant artistic interests and a grasp of the skills relevant to producing
- Knowledge of film / film culture / film industry
- Ability to initiate and complete complex projects
- Capacity for critical analysis and self-reflection, and personal resilience
- Ability to work in a team
- Language skills (spoken, written, listening, communication skills) and interpersonal skills (engagement, ability to lead, willingness to negotiate, pitching skills, humour).
English Language Proficiency
The language of teaching and assessment during the programme is entirely in English. All students must have a satisfactory knowledge of the English language due to the need to understand the intensive course lectures and the demands of group work.
Students who require a student visa and their first language is not English, are required to provide proof of a Secure English Language Test (SELT). The IELTS English language requirement is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
