Secrets to Success in the Screen Industries
Without the proper guidance, the filmmaking industry can be incredibly challenging to navigate. While everyone may have the same goal, to make films, there are many routes that can be taken to achieve that goal. The industry is filled with a vast amount of knowledge and many tales of unique success stories. While this may be overwhelming in the first instance, adjusting the lights and focusing the lens will reveal that this is, in fact, a tremendous opportunity.
"We need films from passionate, crazy fools that want to tell them, so keep going because we want to see them."
At the end of June LFS had the pleasure of welcoming back filmmaking alumnus, Miguel Faus, to share some of his professional knowledge with our Term 6 students and soon to be grads. Miguel’s first feature film, Calladita (The Quiet Maid), was adapted from his grad film and has received abundant success. Calladita had its world premiere at the 27th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in the First Feature Competition and recently had its UK premiere with a Q&A at Raindance Film Festival.
"Trusting your instincts and staying committed to your artistic voice can lead to authentic and impactful storytelling."

It was a true pleasure learning about Yilun's inspirations behind the story and aesthetic, as well as diving into her use of symbolic imagery and its deeper meaning. Continue reading to see what Yilun says about her experience making Whispers in the Breeze, her authentic style of storytelling and much more!
