London provides a backdrop for the film which is the directorial debut of London Film School alumni Anu Menon and promises to bring the wit into Bollywood's romantic comedies.
Capturing the angst of the early twenties London, Paris, New York is the story of Nikhil (Ali Zafar) and Lalitha (Aditi Rao Hydari) who are two completely different individuals but are drawn to each other in spite of their differences or perhaps because of them.
The film follows their journey of love as they meet in London, then Paris and then New York for a night in each city, exploring and mirroring three states of love.
Lalitha, a middle class South Indian girl from Chembur (an eastern suburb in Mumbai), on her way to New York to study politics on a full scholarship, meets Nikhil, a Punjabi, rich kid from Bandra (a posh western suburb of Mumbai) who is going to study film-making in London, fully funded by his father's money.
They decide to hang-out together one evening in London and find that they are completely drawn to each other even as their future lies on separate continents.
The film follows their personal journey and their love story as they meet in London, Paris and New York for a night each over eight years. The film is in three chapters and each chapter is shot in a manner that mirrors the mental state of 'Nikhil' and 'Lalitha'. The three bridges on the three rivers - Thames, Seine and Hudson - witness the three states of their love.
Producer Shrishti Arya comments that "the film is completely shot internationally" and believes that Anu Menon receiving training at the London Film School "brings to the project the right balance of understanding emotional appeal in an international setting".
