In 2013 the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (DFFB – German Film and Television Academy) launched SERIAL EYES – Experiencing the Writers‘ Room, as the first postgraduate 9-month course for writing and producing TV series formats in collaboration with the London Film School.
12 young writers and producers from EU countries and with initial experience in television will be submitted 2014 again for the second SERIAL EYES workshop. Conducted in an intimate 12-person class setting, the participants will be trained by a first-rate staff of international experts and will develop projects for their respective countries individually as well as engage in group projects that they will learn how to develop and pitch.

Key points of the programme will be developing a solid understanding of the dramaturgic and narrative strategies used in successful serial productions and of the broadcasters' needs. Practice will be essential as the participants will be asked to write and deliver projects and practical exercises. Each participant will leave the programme with one pilot for an individual project and one for a group project.  Serial Eyes aims to foster the further development of series formats throughout Europe with fresh ideas and methods as well as cultivating a European and international network for future international co-productions. The participants will train to become the new generation of European writers and showrunners.
The intensive 9-month course is scheduled to launch in September 2014 and will run until mid-May 2015. Courses are conducted in English. It is a full-time course which will take place in Berlin at DFFB for the whole duration of the programme with a two-week visit to London in March 2015 and a visit to MIPTV in Cannes in April 2015.
SERIAL EYES was developed in collaboration with experts in the television industry around the world.
