EUROPE’S FIRST POSTGRADUATE TV SERIAL WRITING & PRODUCTION PROGRAMME
From ‘The Sopranos’ to ‘Breaking Bad’, and recently the European ‘The Killing’, ‘Misfits’ or ‘The Returned’, TV series have showcased mind-blowing storytelling. SERIAL EYES offers you a chance to be part of this narrative revolution.
An intensive 8-month full-time postgraduate course on TV writing and producing, based in Berlin and taught in English. It is designed for young European TV writers and producers with previous experience. SERIAL EYES is organised and ran by the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) and is partnering with the London Film School and the National Film School of Denmark.
The programme boasts top-notch international lecturers, including the renowned American showrunner Frank Spotnitz (“The Man in the High Castle”, “The X Files”, “Hunted”), Ben Harris (“The Musketeers”, “Hunted”), as well as Nicola Lusuardi (Sky Italia) and Sven Clausen, three-time winner of the Emmy Award for Danish serial Drama. The team of lecturers include commissioning editorsfrom broadcasters such as RTL, SKY, CANAL+, ZDF.
In addition to the cooperation partners - the London Film School and the National Film School of Denmark – further partners and sponsors of SERIAL EYES include: the EU's CREATIVE EUROPE programme, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, RTL, Real Film (part of Studio Hamburg) and Atlantique Productions and Gaumont Television.
Applications deadlines are as follows:
Regular admission: 11th March 2016 (some scholarships will be available for applications received by this date)
Late admission: 8th April 2016
Admission Requirements:
Applicants must be from the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
Applicants should have written or produced at least one drama, ideally broadcast on a TV channel in their own country, and must have the capacity to understand the needs and demands of TV businesses.
Applicants should enter the programme with an idea for a TV serial, which will be further developed during the course of instruction (in addition to the application assignments).
A high standard of spoken and written English is essential.
The recommended age is 25 to 35 years.
