Aristotelis Maragkos's grad film BEATITUDES nominated for BUFVC Learning on Screen Award

Aristotelis Maragkos's 2012 MA Filmmaking graduation film BEATITUDES has been nominated for a BUFVC Learning on Screen Award in the category Student Production Postgraduate Award. it is one of three nominations.

Organised by the British University Film and Video Council, The Learning on Screen Awards celebrate and reward excellence in the use of moving image and related media in learning, teaching and research.


All nominated entries will be showcased at the Learning on Screen Awards ceremony at the BFI Southbank, London on Thursday 18 April 2013 in front of industry professionals and education specialists.  The evening will include a guest presentation by Shami Chakrabarti, Director of Liberty - a prominent writer, speaker and broadcaster on the subject of human rights and civil liberties.

Beatitudes was selected for the Drama International Film Fest, Athens International Film Festival, Munich International Festival of Film Schools and Leeds International Film Festival.

SYNOPSIS

As K prepares for retirement – packing up his clinic at the hospital, remembering the patients he’s saved and lost – Athens is preoccupied with its own future and the violent riots on the streets. The endless march of Athenian youth collides with the march of the dead through the vignettes of K’s life that illustrate his perception of a reality, where the dead and the living co-exist.
