Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and funding from the Mohamed S. Farsi Foundation, The London Film School presents a 10-day intensive artists’ filmmaking workshop, led by the celebrated artist filmmakers Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (20,000 Days on Earth).
Up to 12 participants will be recruited through a competitive application process. The selection panel includes representatives from the arts and film sectors. The selection panel will be looking for candidates who can bring knowledge of artists’ work in the moving image and creative skills to the workshop process. The deadline for applications is Friday, 15th August at 12.00pm.
The tuition fee is £450 per participant. The LFS will offer two part-subsidised and two fully-subsidised places on the basis of need.
The workshop programme will incorporate public events, screenings and networking opportunities.
Kate Wilson, producer for the London Film School, said, “This Artists’ Filmmaking Workshop will examine the fluid boundary between the fine arts and filmmaking, exploring a cultural space the LFS wants to occupy and understand. It’s hard to think of anyone better to lead us on the journey than Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, artists who have developed a craft and a visual lexicon that is equally powerful in cinemas, in galleries and online.”
Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard said, “Right now is an exciting time to be an artist working with moving image. Genres are merging and boundaries are falling away. Culture is shifting. Technology too. It’s easier than ever to make films. But making a good one and then getting people to see it is incredibly tough. So we’re thrilled to have this opportunity to work closely with the London Film School, because their approach and ambition is bold. We’re excited to be developing a workshop that might help to inspire and open avenues for new generations of artist filmmakers.”
