LFS Alumni Success at London Short Film Festival

Congratulations to two London Film School alumni, Eui Jeong Hong and Sofia Safonova, who both won awards at the London Short Film Festival this week.  The London Short Film Festival (8th - 17th January 2016) aims to showcase the best in independent and cutting-edge film talent, both in the UK and internationally.

 

Eui Jeong Hong's BETTER THAN TOMORROW picked up the award for Best Student Short. In Hong's sci-fi film, Norman is brought back to life after years in cryogenic stasis, he tries to find his wife Catherine, who entered cryostasis with him one hundred years earlier but their reunion comes with a shocking revelation about this perplexing new world.

 

Sofia Safonova won Best UK Short for her film TAMARA, which follows a single mother, who works as a bus conductor in a city in southern Siberia, as she prepares to introduce her young son Max to her beau and colleague, the bus driver Sanya. As the lights of the city bounce and play on the surface of the Yenisei river, so do tensions between the three and finds herself suspended between Max and Sanya.
