LFS Associates' Films represented in all official Cannes Selections

London Film School 2014 Cannes Success

The London Film School is proud to announce the success of films by LFS graduates, represented in all the official sections of the upcoming Cannes Film Festival 2014. 

Competing for the prestigious Palme d'Or is MR TURNER, written and directed by Mike Leigh (LFS Chairman and LFS Associate), one of eighteen films In Competition this year.

XENIA directed by Panos H. Koutras and THE SALT OF THE EARTH, co-directed by LFS graduate Juliano Ribeiro Salgado with Wim Wenders are both in Un Certain Regard. 

In the Shorts Competition, recent LFS graduation film LEIDI, directed by Newton Aduaka is one of fifteen directors selected for the tenth edition of the Cinéfondation Atelier co-production showcase, with his latest feature OIL ON WATER.   

OIL ON WATER follows two journalists into the depths of the Niger Delta - Rufus, green but enthusiastic and Zaq, his mentor, aged and cynical - as they investigate the kidnapping of the wife of a European oil industry Executive. But 'the story is not always the ultimate goal' as Zaq enunciates to Rufus at the beginning of their Conradian journey along the river. Their quest for truth soon quickly take a more ambiguous twist.

On the London Film School's Associate success at Cannes this year, Director Ben Gibson says:
