LFS Grad Ben Aston wins Sundance London Short Film Competition

LFS MA Filmmaking graduate Ben Aston's RUSSIAN ROULETTE, also written by his childhood friend Oli Fenton, is one of two winning films of the Sundance London Online Shorts Competition.

Filmmakers were asked to create a 3-5 minute film inspired by this year's theme: Making A Go Of It.

"As the world around us changes rapidly, it seems we are constantly striving to either get ahead or get by. This year we are looking for stories about moving forward in life, love or loss and the pursuit of what makes us inspired to keep going. Sometimes these are happy stories and sometimes they are poignant, but they always change the way we look at the world." - Sundance London

Ben is a 27-year-old London born filmmaker, raised in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Australia and Bath. After graduating with a BA in Philosophy from Kings College London he spent a year setting up a production house with friends, creating short films, music video and ads for political organisations resulting in a nationally broadcast commercial that ended up paying for his first term at the London Film School. His mid-course film DINNER AND A MOVIE was officially selected for the Palm Springs Shortfest 2013, the London Short Film Festival 2013 and the Edinburgh Film Festival 2013; which named him a 'British director of tomorrow'. His graduation film HE TOOK HIS SKIN OFF FOR ME is currently in post-production.

Ben is also holding an LFS @ Apple Session on Tuesday 29 April, 6.30 - 7.30pm | HOW TO CROWDFUND YOUR FILM.
