LFS graduate Babak Jalali's second feature film LAND had recently been awarded funding from the CNC Aides aux cinemas du monde and the top production award at the Torino Film Lab. On top of those awards, the project, which is Jalali's second feature as director, has also received funding from MEDIA, MiBAC and has been selected to participate in co-production meetings such as the NCN at the Rome Film Festival, Paris Project and Sofia Meetings.
The film is produced by another LFS graduate Ginevra Elkann, the producer of his first film, Frontier Blues. The film is being co-produced by Love Streams Agnes B (France) and Flying Moon (Germany), due to begin shooting this autumn in America.
Aside from LAND, Babak has had success with two other film projects as producer. SHORT SKIN, directed by Duccio Chiarini (also an LFS graduate), was selected to be part of the Venice Biennale Lab project - one of only three projects to get selected a year. The films are funded by the Venice Biennale College and premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
