Oliver Hermanus' latest feature THE ENDLESS RIVER has been nominated for the Venice Film Festival Golden Lion award this year. The South African film makes history as the first from its territory to compete for Venice's highest accolade.
Lead actress Crystal Donna Roberts has also been nominated for Best Actress.
This is not the first taste of international success for the LFS graduate. Hermanus's ground-breaking film, Skoonheid, won the Queer Palm Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and was South Africa's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2012 Oscars. His provocative LFS graduation film Shirley Adams - which he wrote and directed - also gained international critical acclaim.
