London Film School (LFS) is marking its 70th anniversary with a special season of student film screenings at The Garden Cinema, running throughout May, June, and July 2026. This unique programme celebrates the School’s legacy while showcasing the creativity, diversity, and innovation of emerging filmmaking talent.
The season will feature five carefully curated programmes, each comprising three to six films selected from the LFS student archives. Spanning multiple decades, these screenings offer a rich and varied snapshot of the work produced at the School over the years. To ensure audiences have ample opportunity to attend, each programme will be screened twice during the season.
Over the past seven decades, LFS films have gained recognition at major international festivals, including Cannes, while its graduates have gone on to achieve global acclaim across film and television. This anniversary season presents a rare opportunity to experience early works from filmmakers at the start of their creative journeys, highlighting both the School’s enduring legacy and its continued role in shaping the future of cinema.
Founded in 1956, London Film School has built an international reputation for excellence in filmmaking education. Its alumni have made a significant impact on the global screen industries, and this milestone anniversary provides a moment to reflect on that history while looking ahead to the next generation of storytellers.
All screenings will take place at The Garden Cinema in central London, located within the same building as one of the School’s campuses. Known for championing independent and international film, the venue provides an ideal setting for this celebratory season. Select screenings will also include Q&A sessions with filmmakers, offering audiences a deeper insight into the creative process and the stories behind the films.
The season is open to the public, with tickets and full programme details available via The Garden Cinema website. The first screening will take place on Friday 1 May, with events continuing across May, June, and July.
