London Film School joins Academy’s Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting as official partner

London Film School is proud to announce its new partnership with the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, one of the world’s most prestigious and competitive screenwriting programmes run by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

As an official partner, LFS has been invited to submit two outstanding screenplays from its current screenwriting students and recent graduates to be considered for the 2025 Nicholl Fellowships.

This collaboration recognises the depth of screenwriting talent cultivated at LFS and represents a major opportunity for emerging UK writers to gain exposure on an international stage.

"We are honoured to partner with the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowships, a programme that has helped launch the careers of some of the world’s leading screenwriters," said Sophia Welington, Head of Screenwriting, LFS. "This is a powerful endorsement of the calibre of writing emerging from our school and reflects our commitment to nurturing bold, original voices for the screen."

Established in 1985, the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting is overseen by the Academy Foundation, the educational, preservation and cultural arm of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The fellowship has helped launch the careers of writers such as Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich).

Anyone interested in applying for the Nicholl Fellowship should submit their screenplay and one page to NichollFellowships@lfs.org.uk. Applications are open from Monday 2 June until Sunday 22 June. Students and graduates who are eligible have been contacted and can find more information on the LFS alumni portal here.
