Nadine Patterson Hits Festival Circuit
Called Lush, crazy, sexy, TANGO MACBETH will have its world premiere at the Roxbury International Film Festival in Boston June 14th to 17th, then debuts at the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival June 20th to 24th.
Philadelphia, PA (May 28, 2012)--- The award-winning mother-daughter team of Marlene and Nadine Patterson have produced their first narrative feature, a lush mashup of Shakespearean drama, contemporary documentary technique, world music, and dance.
The film follows earlier projects  which earned Producer Marlene and Director Nadine Patterson special honors:
Anna Russell Jones: Praisesong for a Pioneering Spirit won Best Documentary at Chicagos African American Women in the Arts Film/Video Festival.
Moving with the Dreaming won Prized Pieces Award from the National Black Programming Consortium.
This is Macbeth deconstructed. TANGO MACBETH is a visceral, fluid, energetic re-imagining of this classic tragedy for the 21st Century.  A documentary film crew follows a theater company in its rehearsal of the tragedy.  It captures the moments when the actors become lost in Shakespeares world. The drama of the play intertwines with the drama of making the film.
Noted Author Lorene Cary says: TANGO MACBETH  is a fabulous fresh look at the classic.  There's a dancing, lively, refreshing look at Shakespeare's drama in Macbeth--and also a classy OMG reality show behind the scenes of the actors and director.  Each scene makes us 21st century viewers hear the words new.  I saw the relationship between Lady Macbeth and her husband with renewed fascination. And the way Patterson casts Banquo's face takes the old ghost story to a new, haunting, moving level. We think about character and casting, about conflict and resolution, about love and compromise.  It's brilliant.
TANGO MACBETH stars Alexandra Bailey, Brian Anthony Wilson, Justin Bryant, Veronica Wathome, and James Tolbert. Original music created by Lenny Seidman. Choreography is by Zane Booker. Federico Spoliansky (another LFS alum) served as consulting producer.
