Nicole Volavka C. 159 won the special prize at the Porsche International Student Film Awards 2009 for her commercial for Barnardo's called "RUBBISH". The ceremony is held annually at the Baden-Wurttemberg Film Academy. The DOP was LFS graduate Aaron Reid.

The clear message - children feel they are treated as rubbish - is conveyed in a straight line, thus achieving a high credibility and a direct emotional appeal without a false sense of pathos. Pictures with enormous symbolic strength elevate this spot to a form of art, not in spite of but because of their artificiality and their lack of naturalism.
Nicole is now represented in the Czech Republic and Germany by Saward Graf Kurle Management.
