We're saddened to hear of the passing of a hugely important, independent, filmmaker and LFS alumnus Ron Peck.
Peck set up Four Corners Films in Bethnal Green with fellow LFS filmmakers Mary Pat Leece, Joanna Davis and Wilfried Thust, Four Cornerrs Film still supports filmmakers from disadvantaged communities in the East End.
Nighthawks was produced by Four Corners Films and won acclaim at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and internationally. Nighthawks (1978), the groundbreaking and first major British gay film, was directed by Ron Peck and the late Paul Hallamm with the film still resonating over 40 years after its release.
Peck continued to create films at Four Corners Films, with the support of Channel Four, until early 1990s when he moved on to establish Team Pictures with Mark Ayres. There, he made historical documentary Strip Jack Naked (1991), and after that, Fighters (1991). Peck raised funds from the Arts Council Lottery Fund and the European Regional Development Fund to establish a digital production and education project at Team Pictures, which opened in 1998.
