Serial Eyes accepting applications for 2017/18

SERIAL EYES is now accepting applications for the new class of 2017-2018.

WHAT IS SERIAL EYES?

The programme prepares the next generation of European TV writer-producers to bring high-end, serialised storytelling to the television screen. Delivered in small classes taught in English by top industry professionals, twelve participants from across Europe learn to develop, write and produce serial productions independently and as a part of a team, focused on engaging specific audiences. The core of the SERIAL EYES programme is the writers’ room experience where participants learn how to work as a group and design a European model of showrunning.

Teaching staff include established showrunners and head writers, creative producers as well as commissioning editors from major television broadcasters, such as SKY, HBO Europe and CANAL+, RTL, DR, TV2 Denmark, NRK, YLE, ITV and BBC.

The SERIAL EYES classes are taught at the DFFB in Berlin with two additional workshops offered at The London Film School and The National Film School of Denmark. Big Light Productions, headed by TV creator-showrunner and LFS Honorary Associate Frank Spotnitz (The X-files, Ransom, The Man in the High Castle), will offer a three-month, paid TV writing apprenticeship for one selected SERIAL EYES participant in London at the conclusion of the programme.

The programme runs from September 2017 through to May 2018. Participants must be available full-time for the entire period.

Award-winning American writer- producer and LFS Honorary Associate Frank Spotnitz, best known for his work on THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE and THE X-FILES: “SERIAL EYES is utterly unique, providing a crucial bridge between the best working methods in Europe and in Hollywood. It gives working writers and producers the tools they need to learn how to better collaborate and deliver world-class drama series. I’m very excited to be a part of the program.”
