About
Shirley is a Haitian filmmaker raised between New York City and rural Massachusetts. She worked as a documentary filmmaker, multidisciplinary artist, and clothing designer before coming to the London Film School to tackle narrative filmmaking.
Her narrative shorts The Things I See and Swallowed Lessons have screened at international festivals in the UK, Canada, the States and throughout the Caribbean. She is a recipient of the prestigious New York Foundation for the Arts Film Fellowship. Her first feature in development, to be shot in the States and Haiti, has received seed funding from the New York State Council on the Arts.
Shirley now lives between New York and London as a writer/director as well as a freelance production designer. Her films often deal with alienation, coming of age, magic realism, and unconventional immigrant stories.
