Christina Ruloff

About

Christina Ruloff studied History in Zurich. There she made educational documentaries answering questions such as “How does the cult of martyrs rise?” or “Why do people worship the Virgin Mary?” before rediscovering her old passion: storytelling. At the London Film School she focused on directing as well as cinematography, winning an award for her camerawork on England’s Lourdes, a documentary on Canvey Island.

Her main interest lies in exploring the relationship between individuals and society. Her graduation film Variations on Charlotte’s Afternoon asks whether a lower-class girl can challenge fate. Recently she’s been developing a feature – an adaptation of a Howard Barker play.

In August 2014 she directed a short docu-fiction biopic on Swiss writer Albert Bächtold, starring Andrea Zogg.
