Product of a North Dakotan father and a (sort of) Scottish mother, I was born in Tooting before our family shipped off to Baltimore, Maryland. Eventually, we settled in Salisbury, Wiltshire (via Guildford) – a place hundreds of years past its peak and 14 years shy of its next most dramatic chapter – *cough* Novichok *cough*.
A fascination with Greek Mythology led to a BA in Classical Civilisation from the University of Leeds. A need to pay rent saw me hurtle headlong into a miserable career (two years) in advertising. Luckily, this MA allowed me to follow a dream (and escape).
