Markela Kontaratou is a visual artist and filmmaker who lives and works in Athens, Greece. She studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts (2013 – 2018) and Willem De Kooning Academy, Rotterdam. In 2017 she received the Stavros Niarchos Foundation scholarship to study English Literature at Deree College, Athens. In 2019 she was admitted to London Film School for an MA in Filmmaking.

Her work has been shown in exhibitions in Greece and Europe and her graduation film, Scorched Earth was selected to premiere at the 76th Locarno Pardi di Domani Section.
