Yue Pan

About

Yue Pan was born in Zhejiang, China in 1997. After completing a double major in literature and communication at Shenzhen University, she learned filmmaking at London Film School, where she devoted herself to screenwriting, directing and cinematography.
As a filmmaker, Yue Pan is deeply committed to exploring social realities and is adept at using audio-visual language to create captivating film worlds. Her short films AM1233, Fever, and her graduation project, Talking to the River, are full of narrative combined with a strong visual style.

Talking To The River

Kai, a left-behind child living in a village, wants to meet his parents in the city during the summer holidays, but learns that his parents are hiding the fact that his mother is pregnant with a second child, so he has to stay in the mountains in this summer. After an anxious and scorching day, Kai sleepwalks towards the river to play with water. Kai’s grandparents use superstitious methods to treat Kai's sleepwalking, but he occasionally dreaming of scenes of fire.
