Ruoqie Li

About

Li Ruoqie was born and raised in Henan, China. Li's life is a combination of two things: cinema and music. He holds a BA hons 1st degree in Music Composition from Wuhan Conservatory of Music, one of the best conservatoires in China. He also holds a Master’s degree in Film & TV Production from University of Bristol. He is graduating this year with his second Master’s degree in Film Curating from the London Film School. Li's music work Don't Cry Mum, a song composed for Wenchuan earthquake memorial, was widely broadcast in China in 2008. Li’s short film, a 13-minute black comedy The Body, was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award in England in 2011. He independently curated the 2012 London Chinese Independent Film Festival, a 2 weeklong event in cooperation with The Screen @ RADA venue, which was a huge success. He is currently working on his first feature length film Lisa Franklin is My Friend which focuses on people who are living in a subculture context as well as the differences between Eastern and Western values.
