Colum was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After studying Law at Queen’s University he decided a legal career wasn’t for him and worked for a brief spell as an assistant director. During this time he directed a short film called Say Nothing, which played at a number of festivals and cemented his decision to pursue a career as a writer-director. His graduation film Here, starring Dermot Crowley and Bosco Hogan, is about to embark on its festival run.

Colum is also developing an original sci-fi script with Equation Pictures, the new set-up of the former MD of Cloud Eight Films (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours), as well as working for hire on a number of freelance writing projects.

He is also working with fellow LFS graduate Owen Laird on a Northern Ireland Screen funded short horror project.
