Pablo Saura is a Spanish-born, British writer, director and comedian based in London. His stories are very queer, very foreign but very British. After graduating from Roehampton University with a BA in Film, he won the Eurovideo Film Festival Innovation Award for his film This Is Britain. Growing up in a small Catholic town in south-eastern Spain, where ideas of gender and sexuality were heavily rooted in tradition, he now likes to challenge notions of masculinity, gender, sex and sexuality, national identity, religion, class and mental illness in his work; and he likes to do it with a darkly comedic sense of humour.
