FAQs (Sept 2026 intake)

A Quick Guide for Applying to the MA Filmmaking Programme

Our MA Filmmaking programme has three intakes a year; September, January and May. Each intake has its own application period and separate deadlines. Regardless of which intake you choose, the course duration stays the same; this is a full- time, two-year programme. Please note, there is no part-time mode of study for this programme.

How to Apply

Applications are made online through the LFS website via our online application system. Click here to be taken to the application portal.

Application Deadlines

There are separate application periods and deadlines for each September, January and May intake and these are listed here. On occasions or due to demand, we may have different closing dates for Home and International applicants. Please refer to the deadline information for your course of interest. If you are unsure of your applicant status, please contact our team for confirmation on admissions@lfs.org.uk.

What happens next?

You will get an email acknowledging your application. Applications are then processed by our Admissions team and reviewed by Admissions and Academic staff for consideration for the next stage of the process which can take up to eight weeks. Successful applicants are invited for interview within eight weeks of your submission. The interview would then determine any final offer of study. You will then be notified by email via our Admissions team on the final outcome of your application and interview.

Application and Tuition Fees

Please note there is a non-refundable application fee of £50 upon submission of an application. Tuition Fees are set per academic year and may vary depending on the year of entry and applicant status. Current Tuition Fees can be viewed here. Please note that there is a £300 Visa Application Fee applies to all International applicants. For the full tuition fees policy, please click here.

Funding and Scholarships
There are limited funding and scholarship opportunities available to Home and International status students. We strongly recommend looking into funding options whilst preparing and before submitting your application.

UK and Home status students may be eligible for the Leverhulme Arts Scholarships (MA Filmmaking only for September 2026), alongside a range of external bursary and scholarships programmes that we have listed here

Students are also encouraged to source alternative funding sources via the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding Guide. International students are encouraged to investigate funding opportunities within their own country prior to accepting an offer of study.

Accommodation

LFS is located in the heart of Covent Garden, central London, meaning student accommodation is not provided by the School. Students are encouraged to find external or private Student Accommodation options for their studies. LFS has an online community of students searching for flatmates through our invitation-only Facebook Group once you have accepted an offer, however alternative accommodation search options are also encouraged which we can help you with.

Can I visit the School?
We prioritise the workspace for our students and run only scheduled 1:1 tours at the School. For any questions, please contact us on admissions@lfs.org.uk
